Heating windows open control

After I was quite happy with my smart heating control system, my partner asked me what I should do when I open the window in the bathroom after showering.

Since I still had a Sonoff Button lying around, I put it on the window in the bathroom and wrote two automations that take over the control.

But about the control. When the window is opened, the button is pressed. A double click on the button sends the signal “Please close the Window”

When the button is pressed, the thermostats in the bathroom are set to their minimum temperature and the automation, which normally readjusts the thermostats every 10 minutes, is switched off.

The automation then waits 15 minutes. During this time, the window is open and the heating should be off.

After the waiting time, a message “Please close the window again” is sent to all devices with the Home Assistant app

After another 5 minutes, the heating automation is switched on again and the target temperatures are set back to the thermostats.

There is a second automation so that if I close the window before the notification, I no longer receive it. This reacts to the double-click of the button.

It stops the current automation.

And sets the temperature values back to the thermostats in the bathroom and switches the heating automation back on.

Goal achieved, my partner is satisfied, the use of Home Assistant is also loved by non-nerds 😉 thanks to such automations
